THE VAAD PROJECTS IN AZERBAIJAN
JEWISH SCHOOL
From
the
year
1995
the
Jewish
school
in
the
city
of
Baku,
Azerbaijan
has
been
in
existence.
Our
school
is
located
as
separate
part
of
a
governmental
local
school
#46,
and
it
functions
as part of it for Jewish children.
There
are
137
students
who
attend
this
school
from
1
st
grade
until
11
th
grade.
Transportation
to
the
school
and
form
it
is
provided,
morning
and
noon
meals
are
also
provided,
and
every
year
summer
camp
is
organized.
General
studies
(mathematics,
the
sciences
etc.)
are
taught
by
local
teachers
who
work
for
the
Azerbaijani
ministry
of
education.
The
Hebrew
language
and
Jewish
traditions are taught by local Jewish teachers.
KINDERGARTEN
The
kindergarten
works
5
days
a
week
excluding
Saturdays
and
Sundays,
and
it
work
from
9:00am
until15:00pm.
The
study
plan
is
as
follows;
the
Hebrew
language,
ethics
the
English
language,
and
art,
trips
are
also
organized.
Our
aims
which
we
hope
to
achieve
with
this
project
are
to
get
children
and
their
families
closer
to
Jewish
life
and
its
traditions,
and
to
bring
more
Jewish
kids
in
to
our school.
EVENING KOLEL
The
number
of
students
who
participate
in
evening
Kolel
are
23
.
Lectures
are
given
by
local
rabbies
the
emmisars
of
Vaad.
The
pupils
are
divided
in
to
different
groups
according
their
level
of
knowledge and age. .
COMMUNITY
Our
emmisars,
are
providing
full
rabbinical
servise
to
the
local
communities
in
all
regions
of
Azerbaijan.
Including
Hupot,
Bar-
Mitzvot, Brit-Milas, mezuzot, tfilins etc.
SYNAGOGUE
Vaad
is
running
a
Synagogue
of
Georgian
Jewish
community,
which
is
on
Dilara
Aliyeva
street
171,
Baku-with
daily
tfilot
Shabatot
and
Yom-Tovs.
MIKVAOT
Vaad
is
running
a
women
and
men`s
mikvas
as
well
as
kelim
mikvah
in
separate
buildings
in
Baku.
The
mikvas
is
mehadrin
all
opinions.
About
40
women,
and
50
men
are
using
them
each
month.
CEMETERIES
Vaad
is
is
taking
care
of
several
old
Jewish
cemeteries
in
all
regions of Azerbaijan.
KOSHER.AZ
KOSHER.AZ
-
is
one
of
the
Vaad`s
projects,
that
helps
to
find
kosher food in markets of Azerbaijan.
PUBLISHING
Vaad
-
produces
thousands
of
printed
publications
for
the
local
Jewish
community,
including
calendars,
weekly
newspapers,
brochures, informative flyers, books.
